The following Code of Conduct is agreed upon and honored by all members of the Highland Hall Community.
Whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God. 1 Corinthians 10:31
Speech
- I will not use any dirty language, crude gestures, gossip, sexual speech, or any speech that is offensive or unwholesome, while at any Highland Hall activities or classes.
- I will not use the Lord’s name in vain (for example, “Oh my God,” or “Jesus Christ!”), for I believe the Lord’s name to be holy.
- I will demonstrate integrity and truthfulness in all that I do and say.
Let there be no filthiness nor foolish talk nor crude joking, which are out of place, but instead let there be thanksgiving. Ephesians 5:4
Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear. Ephesians 4:29
You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain. Exodus 20:7
Above all, my brothers, do not swear, either by heaven or by earth or by any other oath, but let your “yes” be yes and your “no” be no, so that you may not fall under condemnation. James 5:12
Body
- I will not use or have in my possession alcohol/illegal substances/tobacco/vaping devices or weapons/blades of any kind at Highland Hall activities or classes.
- I will not participate in boyfriend/girlfriend dating relationship behavior at Highland Hall or display any type of public affection (such as romantic hugging, hand-holding, or excessive touching) that may be considered flirtatious or immodest.
- I will refrain from superfluous use of tech and media during Co-op. Parents and Mentors commit to setting an example of self-control in this area. No student ought to have any phone, tablet, or laptop unless specifically requested for a particular class by the teacher or written permission has been granted by the parent for genuine educational use during Study Hall.
- I will treat all of the co-op’s materials and the property of the facilitating grounds with respect and care. This includes all textbooks, musical instruments, furniture, playground equipment, etc.
- I will walk and use inside voices while indoors, and clean up after myself after lunch and at the end of each class.
I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect. Romans 12:1-2
Authority
- I will maintain a cheerful, respectful, and gracious attitude toward all Highland Hall parents, students, mentors, board members, volunteers, and host church personnel.
- I will address adults by their title and surname (for example: Mrs. Jones), unless special permission is given to do otherwise.
Obey your leaders and submit to them for they are keeping watch over your souls, as those who will have to give an account. Hebrews 13:17a
