Why a co-op?

We believe parents are solely responsible for the education of their children and are commanded by God to bring them up in His nurture and admonition (paideia). We are committed to keeping the Gospel at the center of all things, including education. We believe that educating our children is a tremendous joy, a great responsibility and privilege, a calling, and a very difficult task that ultimately lies with the parents to discern what course of action is best for their children. We seek to draw like-minded families that would come together as a community to help support one another in the schooling of their children by:

  1. utilizing the different gifts of parents in the body of Christ;
  2. offering support and encouragement for parents;
  3. providing our children with peers and worthy role models; and
  4. sharing in the financial costs of homeschooling materials.

By combining our resources and strengths, we hope to ease the educational burden of each participating family while enhancing the excellence of the education given to each child. If at any point the co-op fails to do this and is seen only as another burden in our already busy schedules, we are not doing what we set out to do, and we should reconsider each family’s participation and the overall direction of the co-op.
